We are happy to announce the official signing of contract between Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission and Cainergy Training Services (CIL) for the training of its staff on Oilfield Development Strategy on Marginal Fields/OMLs which takes place in the United Kingdom, London.
Oilfield development is the phase of petroleum operations that occurs after exploration has proven successful and before full-scale production. A newly discovered Oil or Gas field is assessed during an appraisal phase, a plan to fully and efficiently exploit it is created, and additional wells are usually drilled.
Marginal fields refer to discoveries which have not been exploited for a long time due to some factors, which can be very small reserves/pools to the extent of not being economically viable, or lack of infrastructure in the vicinity and profitable consumers.
The training modules/classes are designed to take NURC staff through all stages of field development planning, beginning with the fundamentals of oil and gas exploration; preliminary quantification and appraisal activities; data requirements and integration for the preparation of field development plans, including wells, reservoirs, production facilities, exporting options, and environmental and government regulations. The training also included data preparation and documentation requirements for project sanction and implementation planning, as well as practical exercises and field case studies that will be used to illustrate the methodology that is required in all forms of oilfield development, whether onshore or offshore.
Other potential alternatives for oil field development will be considered at the workshop, among others. Our facilitators also emphasized the need for defining and incorporating associated costs in both onshore and offshore oilfield circumstances. Furthermore, subsea facilities and drilling components, as well as the key motivations for cutting costs and minimizing hazards, will be highlighted, as will data management and integration, all of which are crucial in any oilfield development endeavor.
